DEFROST BEFORE SERVING: DEFROST OVERNIGHT IN THE FRIDGE.Â
Ovens do vary so these are guidelines. Place the defrosted Gammon joint in an oven proof roasting dish / pan. Pour over a little honey & sherry if you like a bit of extra luxury. Or you can use your favourite recipe. Oven bake at 180c for approximately 2 hours. Baste a few times with the juice, add a little water or more sherry if it’s dry. After one hour check the gammon, if the gammon is getting too brown, cover with foil for the rest of the time.
Check the Gammon is hot & cooked in the centre before serving. You can use a long knife or thermometer. If it is not hot in the centre, cook for a further 15 mins and check again. Once cooked fully, remove from the oven & cover with foil (if not already) & let the Gammon rest for 10 minutes before serving.
It is always recommended to let meat, chicken or Turkey rest before serving.Â
